Staff Accountant- Construction Industry

A leading mid-market Construction Management firm is seeking a disciplined Project Accountant to manage financial integrity across a diverse portfolio of active builds. This role is a cornerstone of our fiscal operations, focusing on precise job cost tracking, subcontractor compliance, and comprehensive financial forecasting.

The successful candidate will act as a primary bridge between field operations and executive leadership, ensuring that every dollar spent is accounted for and every project remains financially viable.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

• Fiscal Oversight: Maintain the ledger for labor, materials, and equipment; ensure all project coding aligns with established budgetary frameworks.

• Revenue & Billing: Execute AIA-format billing, T&M invoicing, and cost-plus applications. Manage the full lifecycle of receivables and retainage.

• Compliance Management: Oversee subcontractor pay applications, verifying insurance, W-9s, and lien waivers before authorizing disbursements.

• Data Synthesis: Prepare Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and long-term contract projections. Reconcile project-level data with the general ledger.

• Strategic Support: Partner directly with Ownership and the CFO to analyze AP/AR trends and provide actionable cost guidance to Project Managers.

Technical Requirements

• Industry Tenure: 3–5+ years of dedicated accounting experience within the residential or commercial construction sectors.

• Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Viewpoint Vista (Trimble) is required, specifically within the Job Cost, Subcontract, and Billing modules.
