IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Graduate – Designer 2 in our Burlington, MA office. As a Civil Engineering Graduate – Designer 2 you will be responsible for work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include assisting in engineering analysis, design, field inspections, writing reports, preparing permit applications, site drainage & grading designs, and learning the Civil Engineering trade. This position will be expected to work within the project’s monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prepare designs for water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systems;

  • Prepare grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans;

  • Surface modeling, water shed modeling, storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design engineering software;

  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication;

  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects;

  • Assist in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives;

  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress;

  • Analyze low to moderate complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions. Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions;

  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements;

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering. Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG;

  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work; Interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs;

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3Dsoftware and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible;

  • Developing proficiency of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenge;

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups;

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook;

  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required;

  • 1 year of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry required;

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license preferred.

Salary Range $70,000 - $74,500 . Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
