Barista

Are you looking for a fun, busy, and unique cafe job? Cafe Beatrice is looking for baristas/counter staff! We're looking for a team focused on quality service and product in a fun environment. Job duties include greeting guests, answering questions, taking orders, accepting payment, as well as preparing beverages. A Barista/Counter Staff will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workplace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand their knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation, and be a team player.

To succeed on the Cafe Beatrice team, a team member must be committed to providing guests with service and hospitality that goes "above and beyond". All team members must be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

Duties and Responsibilities

A Barista/Counter Staff’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Setup of dining area and service counter before daily open
• Taking guest orders and informing guests of menu options and changes
• Processing payments
• Preparing ingredients for beverages
• Preparing and serving beverages during service according to recipes
• Stocking and serving food items to guests
• Running food to guests
• Maintaining a clean and orderly dining and service area throughout their shift
• Maintain stock of dishes, mugs, to-go containers, paper goods, and utensils throughout the day
• Perform point-of-sale cash-in and cash-out procedures correctly, as needed
• Clean dining and service areas according to closing procedure
• Operate beverage machines and perform daily preventative maintenance as trained

Job Requirements

• Previous barista or cafe experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic math skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required
• Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 30 lbs without assistance
• Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods
• Regularly requires to handle hot and cold food and beverages
• Flexibility to work various shifts

Compensation

• This is a tipped position, with tipped + hourly guarantee of $25.00 an hour.

Close to the MBTA Orange Line (Community College) and Green Line (Lechmere).
