Shipper - Receiver
The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all products that are received and/or shipped out of a specific location during the assigned shift.
During their shift, Shipper/ Receivers work together in three main functions of the department: receiving, inventory control and cooler operations and shipping. They will work to company guidelines with respect to quality control, safety, and standard operating procedures to execute an accurate and on-time shipping function under the direction of shipping operations leadership.
This position reports to the Shipping & Receiving Manager in charge of a given shift (AM, MID, PM) in Boston.
- Assist with the flow of goods; shipping and receiving of product
- Obtain and process product orders
- Receive, register and distributing packages and letters within the company
- Maintain the company stockroom through organizing, cleaning, and cataloging items
- Assist with large shipments and planning of the logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items
- Keep files of goods shipped and received
- Ensure that the right products are delivered to that right location, on time
- Assist with the assurance that quality, quantity, and customer satisfaction are met
- Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of coolers and warehouse orders
- Tracking and reporting to leadership: back-orders short-list items, and unfulfilled orders
Requirements
- 1+ years, experience in a Shipping or Receiving position
- 1+ years, experience operating forklifts
- Experience in food manufacturing; seafood or meat processing a plus
- Fork-Lift Certification required
- Able to operate company inventory equipment (such as scan guns), required
- Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Able to provide support to department managers to achieve goals
- Able to maintain an environment that drives performance and a safe workplace
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds
- Work up to a 10-hour workday: standing/walking most of the day
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- Ability to work Monday-Friday, weekends when needed
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives
