Laboratory Manager- Kajimura Lab

Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)
Boston, MA

The lab of Dr. Shingo Kajimura at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center wants to understand how our body maintains energy metabolism in response to internal and external cues, such as hormones, nutrition, and temperature, and how regulatory circuits go wrong in metabolic diseases. Kajimura and his team are particularly interested in metabolic organs, such as adipose tissue, muscle, and liver, that dynamically remodel cellular composition and metabolism. Metabolic reprogramming plays a central role in energy homeostasis, as a bioenergetic defect in these metabolic organs leads to obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. The team’s overarching goal is to generate a blueprint for rewiring bioenergetics by defined factors, thereby restoring metabolic health. This work will have a fundamental impact on understanding metabolism, cancer, and aging. More information about the lab and their work can be found by visiting
