Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Does this position require Patient Care?Yes Essential Functions
-Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy. Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required. -Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). -Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed. -Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change. -Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy. -Assists with admitting and discharging patients. -Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed. -Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively -Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition. -Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Nursing Assistant [Certified Patient Care Technician] - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required Experience Experience with patient care or medical assisting in a hospital or healthcare setting. 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong ability to provide empathetic, patient-centered care with respect for patients' dignity and privacy. - Ability to accurately monitor and document patient information and report any changes or concerns promptly. - Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team. - Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving patients, and standing for extended periods. - Collaborative mindset to work efficiently with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals. - Ability to respond to patient needs and concerns with resourcefulness and initiative.Additional Job Details (if applicable)
