Software Engineer III - Data Engineering and MLOps

As a Software Engineer III - Data Engineering and MLOps at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking - Security Services Data Lake team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will design, deploy, and operate agentic AI and ML solutions; build scalable data pipelines; and automate CI/CD, orchestration, and observability for training and inference. You’ll bridge data science, software engineering, and production operations to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable AI/ML systems. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Design, build, and operate scalable batch/streaming pipelines for the Securities Services Data Lake
- Deploy and manage agentic AI/LLM and ML services; automate training, inference, and feature pipelines
- Develop APIs/microservices to expose data and ML capabilities to business applications
- Build and optimize training/serving infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost
- Establish observability (monitoring, logging/tracing, data quality, drift, alerting) and track SLOs
- Manage data/model lifecycle (registries, artifacts, rollbacks, canary/blue‑green releases)
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems

Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficient in coding in one or more languages; Java/Python/Spark/SQL
- Expertise in Cloud Technologies like AWS
- Strong knowledge and experience of AI and Machine Learning systems and techniques.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with Databricks
- Establish observability (monitoring, logging/tracing, data quality, drift alerting) and track SLO's
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
