Compliance, Audit & Investigations Senior Manager
Overview
The Compliance, Audit & Investigations Senior Manager plays a vital role within the Compliance team, working collaboratively across the organization to foster a culture of trust and ethical conduct while focusing on the detection and prevention of behaviors that conflict with DFCI’s ethical standards, federal and state healthcare laws, payer requirements, and internal policies. The Sr Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's compliance audit and investigation functions. The role involves leading audits and investigations, analyzing findings, recommending corrective action, and providing support and follow up. The Sr Manager works closely with clinical and administrative departments to promote a culture of integrity and accountability.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the audit, testing, and investigations functions of the Compliance Department, including the development and implementation of a risk-based compliance audit plan with clear objectives, scope, and methodologies.
- Conduct independent audits to assess compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies, identify control weaknesses, and document findings to support audit work performed. Lead confidential investigations into potential misconduct, such as fraud, waste, abuse, regulatory violations, or policy breaches, by conducting interviews, analyzing data, and preparing detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with area leaders to address compliance concerns, develop corrective action plans, track progress, and perform post-implementation validation testing to ensure effective remediation.
- Develop monitoring tools, perform periodic reviews, and track investigation outcomes and audit results to identify trends and report findings to leadership and compliance committees.
- Prepare and present compliance performance metrics, audit results, and investigation findings to senior management, while fostering transparency and accountability through effective communication with stakeholders.
- Mentor, and develop a team of compliance auditors/investigators, fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, and respect, while enhancing the effectiveness of compliance audits and investigations.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, JD or MPH required.
- Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC) preferred. Must be willing to obtain certification within the first 12 months of employment.
- 7 years of experience in Healthcare Compliance, including expertise in audit and monitoring processes and regulatory analysis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- High ethical standards and commitment to compliance. Demonstrated proficiency in applying compliance and ethics standards in complex health care environments.
- Proven ability to develop and implement comprehensive risk assessments and audit plans.
- Familiarity with applicable federal and state regulatory requirements as well as medical practice compliance standards
- Commitment and ability to:

- Handle patient and highly reputable faculty and interactions/communication with extreme care, patience, confidentiality and consideration, and
- Maintain an environment with open channels of communication within the Institute with workforce members, patients, and others.

- Possess strong communication and presentation skills, clearly and concisely express ideas in groups and one-to-one conversations, formal and informal documents. Adapt strong writing and communications styles to fit the audience.
- Self-starter, positive attitude, ability to work independently, enjoys learning and staying current with industry developments, regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of and experience in working with federal and state compliance laws, regulations and sub-regulatory guidance preferred.
- Proficiency with audit tools EMR systems and case management platforms.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic work setting, balancing multiple responsibilities while maintaining effectiveness.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative team environment.
