Job Summary

The Cannabis Manufacturing Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing equipment, utilities, and facility systems within a regulated cannabis manufacturing environment. This role ensures all production areas, mechanical systems, and safety controls operate efficiently, compliantly, and with minimal downtime to support consistent, high-quality cannabis product manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Facility & Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment (extraction systems, ovens, mixers, packaging lines, etc.)
  • Maintain facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, water filtration, and environmental controls
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues to minimize production downtime
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or inspections

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all facility operations comply with state cannabis regulations, OSHA standards, and local building codes
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and compliance documentation
  • Support audits and inspections by regulatory agencies
  • Follow and enforce GMP, sanitation, and safety protocols

Production Support

  • Work closely with manufacturing and quality teams to support production schedules
  • Assist with equipment installation, calibration, and validation
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency, and cost reduction

General Duties

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues as needed (may include on-call support)
  • Participate in continuous improvement and safety training programs

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, manufacturing, or industrial maintenance
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and SOPs
  • Comfortable working in a regulated environment

Preferred

  • Experience in cannabis, pharmaceutical, food, or GMP-regulated manufacturing
  • Trade certification (electrical, HVAC, industrial maintenance, etc.)
  • Familiarity with extraction equipment and controlled environments
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
  • Work in manufacturing environments with noise, temperature variation, and strong odors

Work Environment

  • Indoor manufacturing and processing facility
  • Must comply with cannabis background check and licensing requirements per state law
