Job Summary
The Extraction Lab Lead supports the Extraction Supervisor in the daily operations of cannabis extraction. This hourly role is responsible for executing extraction processes, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Lab Lead acts as a team lead for technicians and helps drive quality, efficiency, and consistency in production.
Essential Job Functions- Operate and monitor extraction equipment under the direction of the Extraction Supervisor.
- Lead daily extraction activities and delegate tasks to technicians to meet production goals.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance during all operations.
- Perform in-process quality checks and assist with documentation and batch records.
- Train and mentor new extraction technicians on procedures and safety practices.
- Assist with equipment cleaning, calibration, and maintenance.
- Support inventory tracking of raw materials and finished goods.
- Collaborate with QA and Compliance teams during audits or inspections.
- Provide feedback to the Supervisor on process improvements and team performance.
- Stay informed on new extraction techniques and industry best practices.
- Must be at least 21 years old and able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a valid Registered Agent Card issued by the state.
- One (1) year or more of experience in cannabis extraction or laboratory operations.
- Working knowledge of CO₂, ethanol, or hydrocarbon extraction methods.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to follow SOPs and maintain accurate documentation.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- One (1) year or more prior experience in extraction lab, laboratory, or related role in a cannabis facility.
- Familiarity with METRC or other seed-to-sale tracking systems.
- Certification in lab safety or extraction technologies.
- Experience mentoring or training team members.
- Associate's degree in chemistry, biology, or related field.
- Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:30AM - 7PM
