Overview

Sigma Squared is looking for an analytical, research oriented Senior Data Scientist to join our foundational team. As an experienced member of our growing Data Science team you will be responsible for leading complex data initiatives, delivering influential insights for feature development/enhancement and creating robust machine learning models. Your ability to automate processes and effectively communicate statistical findings to non-technical stakeholders will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities

Own the Data:

  • Apply advanced statistical procedures and machine learning algorithms to extract meaningful insights for our customers.

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, data transformation and feature engineering on large, complex datasets.

  • Cross-functional partnership with Product, Engineering and Customer teams to understand analytical needs and deliver data-driven solutions.

Innovative Problem Solver:

  • Research and propose solutions to complex data analytics challenges.

  • Design and implement algorithms that address specific business needs and improve processes.

Process Automation and Integration:

  • Automate data workflows and integrate systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Ensure seamless data pipelines and integration with existing infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to build data pipelines.

Visual Communication of Insights:

  • Create compelling data visualizations and reports that effectively communicate statistical insights to non-technical customers.

  • Translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations.

Skills and Qualifications

Education and Expertise:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related quantitative fields. Pre-MBA and Pre-PhD students are encouraged to apply.

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist.

  • Proficiency in R or STATA; advanced proficiency in Python.

  • Deep understanding of machine learning techniques and programming principles.

Analytical Proficiency:

  • Exceptional grasp of statistics, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and proficiency in visualization languages (e.g., ggplot, matplotlib).

  • Experience with generative AI models.

  • Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear and actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
