This is a full time 40 hour a week position, Monday through Friday, day shift hours
Angell at Essex is looking for an experienced veterinary technician to join our collaborative team. This innovative veterinary clinic opened in 2019 at the Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High School (Essex Tech), and is part of the veterinary assistant program at Essex Tech. The VA program for Essex Tech students offers a rigorous academic curriculum combined with experiential training in the newly built, on-site veterinary clinic managed by Angell at Essex clinicians and staff.
Qualified applicants should excel in interpersonal communication skills and must be reliable, independent, and able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Candidates must have a strong technical background and knowledge of veterinary medicine and recognize the importance of conveying this knowledge and expertise to others, as well as a passion for veterinary surgery and anesthesia. A qualified candidate must be willing to take an active role in the continuing education and training of other staff and Essex Tech students.
The Angell at Essex Technician works collaboratively with our veterinarians, veterinary support staff, and students to provide our patients and clientele excellent clinical and customer service. Typical duties include providing veterinary support in the examination room with outpatients and in-patient visit, assisting with case management of animals admitted to the clinic (day cases only, no overnight services), assisting with procedures, and respectful and effective communication with clients, teachers, students, and sometimes referring veterinarians.
Additional duties include:
- Assist veterinarians with pre-appointment preparation (obtaining referral records, summarizing patient history and vaccine status)
- Participate during appointments (patient handling/restraint, recording in EMR, preparing vaccines, etc.)
- Proactive management of the daily clinic schedule to ensure efficiency
- Demonstrate professional appearance and behavior towards all staff members, clients, and Essex Tech students and staff
- Demonstrate knowledge of client information and confidentiality rules
- Submit prescriptions accurately as directed by veterinarians
- Perform safe and respectful animal handling and restraint techniques
- Provide exceptional client service based on the individual needs of each client and patient
- Communicate in a professional, friendly and effective manner with colleagues, clients, Essex Tech students and staff
- Act as a client liaison for the veterinarians (phone calls, email)
- Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and management
Compensation:
Certified Veterinary Technicians starting $24-$29/hr, $5000 Sign on Bonus for CVTs!
Please note that candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for compensation aligned with their qualifications
