General Summary: Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; recording quality results to ensure that shipped products fulfil customer specifications and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Inspects in-process and finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Perform product identification and traceability activities, as required.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality logs.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance reports as required and work with engineering determining dispositions.
  • Document and report inspection findings and results and monitors corrective actions to inspection findings.
  • Work with other company personnel to resolve inspection questions. Communicate with project engineers to ensure schematics are in compliance with the final product.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; training.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills:

  • Participate and adapt successfully in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be proficient with calipers, micrometer, height gages, dial indicators, standard layout tools.
  • Study and interpret drawings, blueprints, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances requirement.
  • Computer proficiency in MS office products.
  • Ability to make decisions on product quality using sound judgment and common sense.

Education & Experience:

  • Experience as a quality inspector in a machine shop desired
  • High school diploma or associate

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $18 - $22 per hour, commensurate with experience.
