Electrical Test Engineer (Springfield)
Hiring: Commissioning Engineers & Relay Technicians
We’re looking for experienced professionals with a strong background in substation protection & control (P&C) within utility or utility-support environments to support a major projects around the Springfield, MA area.
Open Roles:
- Lead Commissioning Engineer
- Lead Relay Technician
Compensation: Hourly W2 Contract with Per diem if over 50mi away from site
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and execute commissioning activities for substation protection & control systems
- Perform relay testing, functional testing, and end-to-end system checks
- Verify wiring, SCADA/communications, and control schemes
- Support substation startup, energization, and troubleshooting efforts
- Ensure systems are compliant, tested, and fully operational
- Coordinate with field crews, engineers, and utility stakeholders
✅ What We’re Looking For:
- Hands-on experience with relay testing & commissioning (SEL, GE, ABB, etc.)
- Strong background in high-voltage substations (typically 69kV+)
- Experience working for utilities or contractors supporting utilities
- Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts in the field
- Solid understanding of protection schemes (line, transformer, bus)
⚠️ Must have energized a high voltage substation including relay testing
