We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support daily billing and payment activity for a growing team in North Andover, Massachusetts. This contract position with permanent potential is well suited for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing customer payments while maintaining strong service standards. The role focuses on accurate cash posting, lockbox processing, and account follow-up to help keep receivables current and records reliable.
Responsibilities:• Process incoming customer payments and apply cash accurately to the appropriate accounts in a timely manner.
• Monitor outstanding balances, review aging activity, and follow up on open items to support collection efforts.
• Reconcile lockbox deposits and investigate discrepancies to ensure payment records remain accurate.
• Maintain accounts receivable files, update customer account details, and document transaction activity clearly.
• Respond to customer questions related to invoices, payments, and account balances with professionalism and urgency.
• Work with internal teams to resolve billing issues, research unapplied cash, and correct account variances.
• Prepare routine receivables reports and provide updates on payment trends, exceptions, and account status.
• Support process improvements within accounts receivable operations as business needs evolve.• Experience working in accounts receivable with responsibility for payment posting and account reconciliation.
• Working knowledge of cash applications and lockbox payment processing.
• Ability to review financial details carefully and identify discrepancies with accuracy.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively about billing and payments.
• Proficiency with standard office systems and accounting-related software tools.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional accounting coursework is a plus.
