Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA), an internationally recognized environmental advocacy nonprofit based in Boston, MA, is seeking an experienced Stormwater Project Manager to join our growing team. The Stormwater Project Manager will lead and support multiple planning and implementation projects focused on mitigating stormwater pollution.

The Stormwater Project Manager will provide critical capacity to support CRWA’s Stormwater Solutions program area by managing technical projects, grant reporting, performing desktop geographic analyses, developing conceptual designs for green stormwater infrastructure systems, compiling and analyzing data, preparing reports, and engaging with local community members. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in these tasks, an understanding of state stormwater regulations, and a passion for applying their skills to support and advance CRWA’s clean water goals. The Stormwater Project Manager will report to the Senior Stormwater Program Manager, and will work closely with the Senior Restoration Program Manager and other program staff.

This position is a hybrid remote/in-office position located in CRWA’s Boston office. Fully remote candidates will not be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage ongoing and new projects within CRWA’s Stormwater Solutions program, tracking adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Site and design green stormwater infrastructure, including conducting site visits, analyzing data, preparing concept level designs and calculating pollution reduction benefits
  • Manage contracts with engineering and design consultants, regularly communicate with consultants, and oversee project implementation
  • Support community-led visioning processes for restoration and green infrastructure projects
  • Prepare technical reports and documents
  • Present successes of CRWA’s work in the community and at technical conferences
  • Develop grant applications to fund restoration, climate, and stormwater projects and initiatives
  • Perform grant reporting, budget tracking, and creation and compilation of grant deliverables
  • Provide support on additional projects as necessary, including on advocacy and outreach initiatives
  • Conduct work in accordance with CRWA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

  • Educational background and/or work experience in the fields of environmental science/engineering, environmental or urban planning, and/or restoration; master’s or engineering degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in the environmental planning, engineering, or climate adaptation fields
  • Proficient with GIS software and Microsoft Excel
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience managing complex or technical projects, including managing a team of subcontractors and working with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience administering state and federally funding projects is a plus
  • Experience writing and obtaining grants is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong, clear communication skills, including the ability to communicate about CRWA’s mission and work to the public
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people from all backgrounds; multilingual is a plus
  • Past experience working with municipalities is a plus
  • Commitment to CRWA’s mission
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion
  • Valid driver's license and access to a car for regular travel throughout the watershed

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time position based in Boston. Salary for this position is $65,000 - 80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. CRWA-sponsored benefits include generous paid time off, employer contributions to health insurance premiums and retirement plan, paid family and medical leave, Employee Assistance Program, transit stipend, and professional development opportunities. CRWA’s office operates on a hybrid remote/in-person schedule (3 days per week in the Boston office); we are unable to consider fully remote candidates for this role.
