Postdoctoral associate

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, College of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

We are seeking a postdoctoral associate to study the discovery of metal-organic framework (MOF) catalysts using an autonomous experimentation workflow. The post-doctoral associate will collaborate with graduate students with expertise in synthesis, computation, autonomous hardware development, and spectroscopy. The position is joint between the Brown and Chapman groups at BU Mechanical Engineering and the Ling group in BU Chemistry and the associate will be co-advised by Prof. Keith A. QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field required.
• A strong experimental background (e.g., MOF synthesis, catalysis, or hardware development) is desirable.
• Experience with computational science or collaborating with computational scientists is preferred.
• Experience developing instrumentation for autonomous experimentation is preferred.
• Experience with integrated data science or active learning is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills are required.

TYPICAL DUTIES

• Coordinate a team of graduate students in three research groups spanning synthesis, hardware development, and computation
• Develop automated systems based upon robotic instruments to synthesize and test MOF samples.
• Perform high throughput combinatorial experiments.
• Analyze the results of high throughput experiments.
• Prepare frequent reports, present results at conferences, and publish manuscripts.
