Assistant Controller - Venture Capital - Boston - Hybrid

A leading VC firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its finance team. The firm has a strong track record of partnering with founders to address market opportunities.

The Assistant Controller will oversee all aspects of the firm's accounting function. This includes managing financial reporting, audits, cash management, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring efficient operations and professional development.

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

• Manage the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion.

• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee cash management and treasury functions, including forecasting and liquidity management.

• Prepare and review financial analyses and reports to support strategic decision-making.

• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support business initiatives.

• Manage tax compliance and reporting, including coordination with external tax advisors.

• Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.

• 8+ years of experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

• Experience with audit processes and managing external auditors.

• Experience in venture capital or private equity is highly desirable.
