CNC Laser Machine Operator
2nd Shift Laser Operator I (CNC) – Full Time, Hourly
Location: Franklin, MA
Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:15 PM
15% Shift Differential
Job Summary
Operate CNC laser processing machines in a precision manufacturing environment. This position focuses on producing close-tolerance parts while following standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and quality specifications.
Responsibilities
Operate CNC laser machines to meet quality and production goals. Load and retrieve pre-programmed machine instructions. Perform ERP system transactions. Complete daily equipment and tool maintenance. Monitor machine performance and process specifications, shutting down equipment and notifying leads or supervisors when adjustments are needed. Ensure proper use of assist gases per setup instructions. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Perform in-process, first-piece, and final inspections using precision measuring tools and record inspection results. Communicate job status and process information with team members across shifts. Perform secondary operations such as cleaning parts, cleaning work areas, and assisting others as needed.
Experience Required
1–3 years of experience as a CNC Machining Operator in a precision or small-device manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with Lasag, Kohler, Coherent/Rofin, or IPG laser systems is a plus. Experience in medical device, aerospace, metals, or machinery manufacturing is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Good manual dexterity and experience using measurement and inspection tools. Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and flexibility to perform multiple manufacturing tasks.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational or technical training in machining or manufacturing is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and repetitive motion. Occasional lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. Exposure to moving machinery. Continuous use of safety glasses and full PPE in a cleanroom environment.
