General Manager

Epilogue is a new concept coming to downtown Natick: an independent bookstore by day, transitioning into a wine bar by night. We are not a high-volume nightclub or a sports bar. We are a quiet, conversation-focused venue looking for a professional partner to help us launch.

We are looking for a Founding Lead Bartender to help us design the program from the ground up. You will help select the glassware, create the opening wine list, and define our service standards.

The Timeline

Phase 1: Pre-Opening (Immediate Start | ~5-10 hrs/week)

• Focus: Licensing, Compliance & Design.
• The Job: You will come on board immediately as a W-2 employee to serve as our legal Manager of Record for the liquor license application.
• Key Duties:
• Review and advise on the bar equipment layout and workflow.
• Curate the opening Beer & Wine list.
• Attend 1-3 hearings with the Natick Select Board (typically weekday evenings).
• Flexibility: Aside from hearings, most of this work can be done remotely or on your own schedule.

Phase 2: Operations (Summer 2026 | Full-Time)

• Focus: Service & Leadership.
• The Job: Once we open, you transition to full-time Lead Bartender & GM.
• Key Duties:
• Lead the bar service 4-5 shifts per week.
• Manage inventory, ordering, waste logs, and vendor relationships.
• Maintain strict regulatory compliance (ABCC/Natick).

Who You Are

• Experience: 2+ years of management or lead bartending experience.
• Legal: You are a U.S. Citizen (MA Law requirement) with a clean CORI.
• Certifications: TIPS Certification required; ServSafe Manager preferred.
• Vibe: You understand that a bookstore bar has a different energy than a dive bar. You can talk about Pinot Noir and paperbacks (or at least respect the quiet atmosphere).

Compensation

• Hourly Wage: $30 - $40 / hour (High fixed wage; no tips).
• Manager Stipend: Weekly stipend for Manager of Record duties.
• Paid Time Off: 3 Weeks (15 Days) accrued annually.
