As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.

Role Purpose:

Provide support on large scale and lead small scale projects, working closely with other Life Sciences project managers, functional and/ or business teams.

  • Projects to implement a strategy or advance an initiative. Project management work consists of defining project issues/scope, setting up project team and work module, managing project schedule, tracking progress, surfacing issues, and communicating to executives in a steering team.
  • Projects to conduct market evaluations to build and expand knowledges about a market that Corning is currently playing in or considers entering – market potential, competitive landscape, value chain dynamics, etc.
  • Projects to evaluate Corning’s competitive position in a market segment, and identify opportunities to further enhance its strategies and operations for better outcome – e.g. higher revenue, lower cost, higher capital efficiency, better supply security, etc.
  • Projects to evaluate emerging technology development and derive implications to Corning
  • Participate in the assessment of inorganic (M&A, JV, other partnership) opportunities

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in highly strategic roles (e.g. chief of staff, strategy development, market intel /analytics, product line management)
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA a plus
  • Strong analytic/problem-solving skills with experience in dealing with complex business issues
  • A good combination of strategic thinking and operational execution
  • Proficient in senior management communication & engagement
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing project & people across functions, regions and businesses
  • Seasoned in technological areas, ability to engage in technology discussions

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • MBA a plus

The range for this position is $97,542.00 - $134,121.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
