Community Respite Consultants

New North Citizens’ Council, Inc. (NNCC) is seeking a Community Respite Consultant to join our DDS Family Support Community Respite Program . ​ Under the guidance of the Community Respite Coordinator, the Community Respite Consultant is responsible for bringing individuals out into the community and engage in recreational activities on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis.

SCOPE OF WORK HIGHLIGHTS:

• Recreational activities may include bowling, movies, museums, dinner, sports, shopping and explore client’s own interest, etc.
• Motivate skill building to gain independence.
• Will work as a team with other staff members to ensure the safety of participants when working group outings.
• Will interact with participants and model proper behavior when out in the community.
• Demonstrates good listening skills by paying attention to and demonstrating understanding of the comments and questions of others:
• Shows awareness of and respect for multicultural, ethnic, race and gender diversity among all individuals involved in the Agency including recipients of services, residents, staff, other agencies, etc.
• Knowledgeable in computers and their programs i.e.: Windows, Excel, Internet usage, etc.
• Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
• Must have a valid MA driver’s license, reliable vehicle, registered and insured.
• Must pass a CORI

PAY – Nonexempt: $25.00 per hour/10 hours per week

An independent contractor consultant is self-employed on a W-9, control their own hours, workspace, and pay their own taxes, in exchange for defined deliverables and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate or, equivalent required.
• Associates’ Degree and two years of experience working with priority population preferred.
• Experience building rapport with youth and understanding best practices in youth services preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and bi-cultural candidates preferred.
• Ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with participants, families and staff.
