G2D2 is home to Eisai’s Human Genetics team. Members of this team have the opportunity to perform foundational data science research that impacts Eisai’s entire discovery and development portfolio across Eisai’s worldwide discovery and clinical sites in the US, the UK, and Japan. The Computational Geneticist will be a key member of the Human Genetics team and will have specific responsibilities for accessing and analyzing array-based and next-generation sequencing DNA data from large population-based and clinical cohorts. They will be responsible for integrating these data with other molecular data, including next-generation RNA sequencing, large-scale proteomics, and epigenomics data, and to derive deep insights from these multimodal data to drive project and portfolio decision-making. In addition, they will provide and implement recommendations for novel advanced analytic approaches to improve experimental design and inform decision making using genomic data. While the focus is expected to be on impacting the discovery process, this position will also serve as a subject matter expert for advanced analytics using genetics and other molecular datatypes, providing expert scientific guidance to additionally impact translational science and clinical development.
The Computational Geneticist will join an existing (and evolving) human genetics group at G2D2 and will encounter a corporate culture that is very motivated to apply human genetics and advanced analytical approaches to R&D at every level of the organization.
Responsibilities include:
Lead development and execution of computational plans in line with defined research problem statements within discovery and contribute to the human genetics team’s effort to apply human genetics to impact program and portfolio decision-making across Eisai’s global R&D sites, including target identification, target validation, biomarker discovery, and patient stratification strategies.
Oversee internal data pipelines and resources for computational analyses in collaboration with internal/external teams
Present analyses/results to relevant stakeholders in comprehensible and readily actionable formats
Report scientific results in patents, publications, regulatory documents, and product-development reports as applicable
Actively contribute in project teams, panels, technological platforms, and meetings; collaborate with other groups
Work with the human genetics team to identify, initiate, and execute collaborations with academic, biotech, and other pharma partners leveraging machine learning and AI approaches to produce insights capable of impacting program and portfolio decision-making
Interpret, integrate, adapt and present complex scientific findings to make recommendations for critical project decisions
Scout emerging research and technology landscape related to own area to identify relevant new approaches/technologies, particularly in the areas of machine learning and AI, and present case for adoption within Eisai.
Train and mentor teams on emerging scientific aspects and research processes/technologies
Qualifications:
Academic/PhD in computational or related life-science field with 5+ years of post-doctoral experience in relevant technical field (industry or academia) (OR) Combination of equivalent education & experience
Experience with programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, R); relational or other databases (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL); tools and databases (e.g. PLINK, coloc, ENCODE, ENSEMBL, etc); cloud services for storage and computing; commercial and public biological databases; high-density data types and relevant external resources
Strong publication record in high-quality journals, references, and external presentations demonstrating relevant experience Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role
Experience mentoring others in team
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to function as a productive member of cross-disciplinary teams is required.
Excellent organizational and management skills are required.

The base salary range for the Sr Data Scientist, Computational Geneticist, Integrated Data Science, DHBL is from :140,900-184,900Under current guidelines, this position is eligible to participate in : Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan.Final pay determinations will depend on various factors including but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, and skills.
