This is a stipended position offered to Boston Public School paraprofessionals. The position resides in the Office of Human Capital in the Boston Public Schools, reporting to the Co-chairs of the BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Professional Development Team. The Facilitators will attend facilitator training and deliver professional development workshops for paraprofessionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Design and deliver professional development courses for Boston Public Schools paraprofessionals (online or in person).
- Participate in all Paraprofessional Facilitator Training sessions October 2025 – February 2026 (15 hours, Hybrid model Online or in person).
- Co-design a professional development course for BPS paraprofessionals in a content area approved by the Co-chairs of the BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Professional Development team.
- Facilitator coaching sessions (whole group) – March, April 2026 (2 sessions, 2.5 hours each) – 5 hours.
- Teach one 10-hour professional development course (four 2.5 hour sessions) for BPS paraprofessionals between February – May 2026.
- Planning and preparation time on their own.
- Participation in a celebration in June 2026 (1 hour).
- Complete an evaluation survey about their experience in the paraprofessional facilitator training sessions and as workshop co-facilitators.
- Provide feedback to the Co-chairs of the BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Development team.
- Currently a Boston Public Schools employee.
- Bachelor’s Degree not necessary; must have either 48 college credits or have passed the ParaPro exam.
- Minimum of 5 years of service in Boston Public Schools, with relevant classroom experience.
- Must have classroom experience in Grades K-0 to 3 and/or Grades 3 to 8.
- Must have an evaluation rating of “Meets or Exceeds Standard” in all dimensions of the most recent evaluation.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
- A deeply held belief in the overarching mission of public education.
- Recommendation by School Administrator or Teacher.
- Familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools.
BTU 2 (Paraprofessionals) members only. Residency not required.
COMPENSATIONStipend - $1500 (in two or three installments throughout the year).
