Job Overview:
The Depot Repair Technician is responsible for servicing Advanced Instruments devices that are marked for depot repair, and for documenting repair activities using the field service tracking system. In addition to servicing devices, this person will provide technical support to the Production Staff/ FQT as needed. This position is responsible for maintaining required inventories of parts to perform necessary repairs.
Requirements:
- 2+ years working as a laboratory/medical instrument repair technician, or medical instrument assembler/tester is strongly desired
- 2 + years’ experience in a technical repair facility
- Working knowledge of standard test equipment is required, but most troubleshooting is performed on a symptomatic basis
- Receive, unpack, and decontaminate returned goods, which can include instruments and consumables
- Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and perform in-house quality control tests and PMs on laboratory/medical devices by replacing circuit cards, mechanical sub-assemblies, and discrete components, and calibrate equipment according to manufacturer/service specifications
- Refurbish equipment by replacing worn components, cleaning exterior covers and perform final testing of repaired or refurbished equipment by using various diagnostic tools
- Work closely with factory engineering and other specialists to ensure service needs are met
- Responsible for internal and external customer needs by diagnosing and documenting quality related issues
- Document customer issues and complaints and communicate with internal stakeholders as needed
- Support Production needs by performing assembly/test functions on new builds, as needed
- Assume additional responsibilities for special projects as directed
- Maintain inventories of parts to support depot repair
- Capable of working independently and completing tasks on schedule
- Arrange and perform packaging of instruments, kits and other components for shipment
- Familiarity with LEAN principles and 5S highly desired
