Scientist I- Plant Physiology
Job Description
Job Description
Description:
As a Scientist I, you will work with the Discovery and Product Development team to support research that advances our microbial technologies from early discovery through product-ready validation. This role focuses on understanding how plants respond to microbial inputs under varying environmental conditions, including abiotic and climate-related stresses, to inform product performance and optimization. You will design and execute greenhouse and controlled environment experiments, analyze plant physiological and growth responses, and translate findings into clear next steps that guide product strategy.
In addition to hands-on experimental work, you will contribute to formulation- and plant-focused projects by designing experiments, generating data, and supporting the development of improved approaches for evaluating product performance. You will work closely with a team of scientists and research associates, bringing together plant science, microbiology, and product development to connect plant responses with microbial function and real-world agricultural performance.
You will thrive in this role if you are both an independent thinker and a practical problem solver -someone who enjoys understanding how plants respond to stress and translating that knowledge into actionable insights. You are proactive, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of your work. You value scientific rigor and are excited to apply plant science to develop scalable, impactful agricultural solutions.
Requirements:- PhD in Plant Physiology, Plant Biology, Crop Science, Environmental Plant Biology, or a related field, with 1-2 years of ag industry or applied postdoctoral experience in translational or product-focused research
- Strong foundation in plant physiology and responses to abiotic stress, such as drought, heat, nutrient limitation, or other climate-related conditions
- Experience designing and executing controlled experiments that simulate real-world environmental variability, including variation in soil type, moisture, nutrient availability, and/or interacting stress factors
- Experience conducting greenhouse or controlled environment studies, including measurement of plant growth, physiology, and stress responses
- Experience working with soil-based systems or plant–microbe interactions is preferred
- Experience evaluating plant responses to microbial inputs, biostimulants, or soil amendments is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute independent experiments, including experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation
- Experience working with complex biological datasets, integrating physiological, phenotypic, or environmental data to support decision-making
- Experience working in cross-functional or applied research environments is preferred, particularly where plant performance is connected to product outcomes
- Fluent in Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Indonesian is ideal
- Detail-oriented and scientifically rigorous
- Proactive, self-directed, and accountable
- Strong communicator who can translate plant science into actionable insights
- Motivated by building practical, scalable solutions that perform in real-world agricultural systems
