Affordable Housing Specialist (Temporary)

Your Responsibilities
We are seeking candidates for a temporary Affordable Housing Specialist. This is a temporary full-time position lasting approximately six months, with the potential to become a regular full-time position with benefits. The Affordable Housing Specialist will support our Brokerage Division remotely, managing the recertifications, vacancies, and/or lottery lease-ups for multiple assigned properties. The duties and responsibilities will include:
Recertifications:
- Contact residents 4 months prior to their lease expiration regarding the income recertification process.
- Conduct repeated follow-up attempts (if necessary) to ensure paperwork is collected and processed.
- Review paperwork submitted and create an income calculation sheet.
- Inform the property staff of yearly rent increases.
- Submit the yearly compliance reports.
Vacancies:
- Market and drive traffic to the waitlist. This includes email blasts to our 100,000 + email list, Craigslist, Zillow, MLS.
- Oversee and maintain the property waitlist
Applicant Processing:
- Set up property tours for eligible applicants and collect their credit application and ID.
- Collect income eligibility paperwork directly from the applicants.
- Send out applicant rejections for over/under income and failure to submit documentation.
- Conduct applicant appeals.
- For applicants with housing vouchers, oversee the approval process for the voucher.
- Follow up with applicants to ensure they sign the lease on time.
- Collect and submit signed leases to the BPDA.
Customer Service:
- Respond to calls and emails regarding the eligibility, application process, and any general questions.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to clients on the status of vacancies and recertifications.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a strong customer service philosophy. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently will be key to success in this position. Microsoft Office and Excel skills are required.
