Housing Compliance Coordinator
:
About Us
SEB Housing, LLC is a small consulting and client services firm specializing in affordable housing and community development programs and has enjoyed 40+ years of success. While we are a highly professional firm with an outstanding track record, we offer a comfortable work environment.
Our business remained strong despite the pandemic as we are firmly entrenched as a leader in housing and compliance in Massachusetts. We are currently seeking a candidate for our dynamic, growing firm to add another job to our staff. The new member of our team would start as Administrative Support for a few weeks (along with Compliance training), as all of our staff (regardless of role) has started as part-time Administrative Support, as understanding that position is fundamental in understanding the other positions within our firm. But after a few weeks, they would move fully into their role of a Compliance Officer.
Company Culture and What We Are Looking For
We take what we do very seriously but try not to take ourselves too seriously. This position is perfect for someone looking to be part of a growing organization that is fundamental in implementing housing policy initiatives, by both enforcing the guidelines that give integrity to the programs, while also helping people who need housing through a process that can be sometimes daunting.
There is currently a lot of work to be done so many tasks need to be handled with a sense of urgency. Candidates should be prepared to be self-starters, responsible for their tasks, and able to work with only periodic direction.
Our Compliance Officers have roles similar to bank underwriters for first-time homebuyers, in that they assist individuals and families looking for affordable housing through some of the steps required to secure housing, such as completing paperwork required to verify income and assets, in addition to meeting other programmatic and regulatory requirements.
The candidate should have a background in medium to high volume administration or data/loan/financial processing work. Ideally they would also have a background in underwriting, or paralegal work, or bookkeeping for small companies or individuals, or a background in tax preparation.
Responsibilities
- Review of tax, income, and asset documents (e.g. 1040's, w2's, pay stubs, asset statements etc) and other financial information sent in by housing applicants to make determinations on eligibility based on various program guidelines
- Write clear and comprehensive instructions to applicants so they understand what is needed to complete their review
- Understand and utilize the various protocols in place for processing files and communicating with applicants and clients (Management Companies and Leasing Offices)
Qualifications
- Four year college degree
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Knowledge of office management systems and databases
- Proficiency in MS Office (Especially Excel and Oulook) and Google Suite (Drive and Gmail)
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work with limited supervision
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with individuals at all levels
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Basic Math and Accounting skills
- Ability to coordinate with multiple teams on a daily basis
- Bachelors Degree preferred but willing to consider a combination of education and experience for the right candidate.
**Candidates will allergies, fear, or dislike of dogs would not be a good fit. There are dogs brought into the office on occasion**
