Employment Status: Chapter 7 Ordinance, Non-Exempt, Seasonal Hours Needed/Varies – Up to 35 Hours/Week)

Salary : $15.00/Hour

Schedule: Two positions available:

(Ranger 1) : May 11th, 2026 – September 11th, 2026

(Ranger 2) : June 8th, 2026 – October 11th, 2026

(*Depending on park operating hours and scheduled activities)

Certifications/Licenses Required: MA Class D Driver’s License

SUMMARY

The City of Chicopee’s Recreation Department is hiring a Ranger who will supervise park picnic facilities on weekends and weekdays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

Works days, weekends and holidays to monitor the Szot Park picnic area and help to observe other park facilities such as the pool, playground area, ball fields, basketball, tennis courts.

• Ensure that the park rules and regulations are adhered to at the park.
  
• Checks for picnic permits, issues permit and collects appropriate picnic fees.
  
• Performs light maintenance duties at Szot Park picnic area-some raking, painting, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping parking lot and pavilion, general litter pickup, etc.
  
• Informs people on the use of park badge system for using pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, and other park facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 
  High school diploma/G.E.D.

• Some experience working with the general public.

• Must be able to express oneself verbally.

• Knowledge of parks and recreation operations helpful.
