The Laundry Worker position is located in the Environmental Management Service department at the Central Western Massachusetts (CWM) Healthcare System in Leeds, MA. This position is a Full-Time position at 40 hours per week.

Duties
- Loads and operates a 26,00-pound delivery truck with laundry carts and transport both clean and soiled laundry to various locations in VACWM.
- Removes soiled and contaminated linens from soiled utility rooms and weighs outgoing dirty linen carts utilizing scale and recording weights and return dirty linen to distributor.
- Receives clean linen from distributor and backstock linen in clean linen room.
- Counts linen levels on each ward and deliver textiles daily to maintain established par levels.
- Places weekly linen order and fulfils and responds to linen orders through LEAF or other VA computer systems.
- Collects SHARPS and RMW and prepare manifest for contractor pick-up.
- Collects, secure, update Patient Effects inventory using VA computer system daily.
- Participates in semi-annual linen inventories.
- Receives and issue employee uniforms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements : Incumbent is required to stand for long periods. When operating laundry equipment, constant movement of the arms and legs is required. Bending and stooping at times may be required. Excessive movement of arms when sorting is to be expected. The incumbent frequently lifts, carries and moves items such as furniture, full mop buckets, trash bags, linen bags/bins or waste containers weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally heavier objects with assistance and/or mechanical devices as appropriate for safety.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements:

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. HPTs may be paid or unpaid and include residents, interns, fellows and students. HCP also includes VHA personnel providing home-based care to Veterans and drivers and other personnel whose duties put them in contact with patients outside VA medical facilities.
