Position OverviewThe Chief Mechanical Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating department in the preparation and submission of accurate and competitive bids for mechanical construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC and refrigeration, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a team of estimators and collaborate with other departments. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators in the preparation of mechanical estimates for projects.
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine project requirements.
- Develop accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on project specifications.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure clarity and accuracy in estimates.
- Prepare and present detailed bid proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and cost factors affecting mechanical construction.
- Implement and maintain estimating best practices and procedures within the department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management (preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical estimating
- Extensive HVAC and refrigeration systems required
- Proven leadership experience in managing estimating teams
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and estimating software
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams
