Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse – Correctional Unit

Facility Type: State Hospital – Correctional Unit (must be willing to float to other units as needed)
Duration: 13 weeks to start, with strong potential for extension
Schedule:
- 40 hours/week
- Monday–Friday and every other weekend
- Shift: 11:15p-7:15am
Start Date: February 2nd
Pay Rate:
- Local: $80/hr
- Travel: $3,627/week gross
Position Overview:
Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a correctional unit within a state hospital setting. This role requires flexibility to float to other units as needed. The RN will assume responsibility for applying the nursing process, coordinating patient care, and ensuring compliance with hospital standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and spiritual assessments of patients.
- Develop and implement individualized Plans of Care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and document interventions accurately.
- Provide ongoing evaluation of patient status and adjust care plans as needed.
- Educate patients and families to promote health outcomes.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to LPNs and NAs.
- Participate in performance improvement and risk management activities.
- Maintain professional growth through continuing education and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure safety, infection control, and compliance with hospital policies.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and age-appropriate care.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 2 years of hospital experience.
- Vent/trach experience required.
- Telemetry and IV experience required.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
