As a Punching Operator, you'll be part of our Stanley Black & Decker team located in East Longmeadow MA. You'll get to:
Setup and operate automatic punch presses to stamp out milled and set soft steel band to obtain prescribed shape and size for various reciprocating and jigsaw flush cut blades following standard practices and procedures.
Work from production order, written or verbal orders and instructions, prescribed procedures and practices. Setup includes installing and changing proper dies, adjusting guides, stops, clamps and roller guide tensions. Locate specified coil stock, transport and mount on payoff reel mechanism. Thread band through roller guide straightening mechanism and feed guides to die. Use micrometer and/or fixed gauge to check first piece for dimensions, tang, bow, etc. Make roller and die adjustments to achieve even cuts, lengths and straightness. Report needs to sharpen dull die based on burr size.
Activate blades for continuous operation; monitor operation and make minor adjustments to maintain quality product.
Collect blades from discharge container. Pack in prescribed containers and transport using the power lift to designated area. Attach proper work orders and information. Assist in positioning blades in trays for heat treat and operate vacuum furnaces as required.
Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment and materials, as well as unusual situations.
Observe and obey all safety rules, practices and procedures.
Perform other similar or related duties as required or requested.

Knowledge of charts, specifications, and micrometers
1-2 years experience preferred
Use of numbers including decimals
Light physical effort required, equivalent to lifting, pushing, pulling 5 to 25 pounds
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
