Skilled Highway Laborer Substitute The Longmeadow Public Works

Department has an immediate need for a Skilled Highway Laborer Substitute to assist in providing skilled manual labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of roads and public spaces, assisting in the maintenance of the highway department equipment and grounds. Position is responsible for the daily maintenance of the parks and recreation facilities and grounds. Work includes removal of garbage, removing snow, mowing lawns, cutting shrubs, lining playing fields, and ensuring for the overall upkeep of playing fields. Successful candidate must have: Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Ability to multi-task and manage conflict. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials, and the general public, and to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and customer service skills. High School diploma or equivalent, and 1 year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Minimum age is 18 years; must have and maintain a valid CDL Class B driver\'s license as a condition of employment. Must be able to pass a CORI check. Salary \$18.67 per hour; no benefits .
