Controls and Power Industrial Electrician
Pay: $38.00–$48.47 per hour
A day in this role
You start your shift reviewing work orders and safety notes, then move straight to the floor to diagnose a motor control fault with a mechanic and your supervisor. By mid-morning, you’re tracing signals through a servo amplifier, verifying wiring sizes against full-load amperage, and bending conduit for a new production cell. After lunch, you collaborate with contractors on a facility power upgrade, confirm NEC compliance, and interpret schematics to isolate a sensor issue on a packaging line. You finish the day documenting fixes, ordering parts from OEM manuals and prints, and helping a teammate troubleshoot a device control problem—staying ready for whatever comes next.
What you’ll tackle
- Test and diagnose malfunctioning machinery; align corrective actions with mechanics and supervisors.
- Apply NEC knowledge to keep the plant in compliance with safety protocols.
- Leverage experience with complex manufacturing operations (preferred).
- Work with teammates across diverse skill levels; share best practices and provide guidance.
- Build strong partnerships with maintenance peers, outside contractors, and vendors.
- Troubleshoot and maintain advanced controls: servo motors, servo amplifiers, and servo controllers.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues in electrical components and systems across the facility and grounds.
- Bend and install various conduit types; size wire and conduit based on distance and FLA; terminate wiring properly.
- Work safely across 24V to 480V power systems.
- Install, maintain, and repair facility, grounds, and industrial electrical systems (low and high voltage).
- Read and interpret electrical schematics with accuracy.
- Diagnose electric motors, motor control circuits, and device control problems.
- Troubleshoot and repair sensors and solid-state equipment.
- Identify and order parts/materials using manufacturers’ manuals and prints.
- Communicate clearly in both written and verbal form.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED; or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active Journeyman or Master Electrician license (required).
