Job Description
The In-House Intellectual Property (IP) Legal Counsel will be responsible for:
- Develop and implement intellectual property, patent, trademark and copyright strategies to protect new and existing company assets.
- Manage patent portfolios, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications.
- Collaborate with research/ development teams of inventors to identify and safeguard new innovations.
- Patent protection and prosecution, handle IP disputes, including litigation support and resolution strategies, managing outside counsel as required.
- Negotiate and draft IP-related agreements, such as licensing and joint development agreements.
- Work directly with senior stakeholders to providing guidance on intellectual property matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to intellectual property in the industrial and manufacturing sector.
Candidates must be based in Massachusetts, able to work from the office 3-4 days per week, and have US work authorization now and indefinitely.

The Successful Applicant
The successful In-House Intellectual Property (IP) Legal Counsel should have:
- Bachelors degree in engineering/ electrical engineering.
- Juris Doctor law degree.
- Admission in good standing to the Massachusetts bar.
- Registered Patent Attorney in good standing at the USPTO.
- 5+ years relevant IP experience.
- Strong knowledge of intellectual property law, particularly in patent prosecution, patents, copyright and trademarks matters.
- Experience working within the engineering/ electrical/ industrial and manufacturing sector.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working directly with senior leadership teams providing legal counsel in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
