A Payroll Processor is needed for M. Stanley Metz & Co., an accounting service firm located in Melrose, MA. In 1938, M. Stanley Metz founded our company and 87 years later continues to grow off the excellent reputation.

We are looking for an Organized, Go Getter with solid time management skills and attention to detail to join our Payroll Department!

The Payroll Processor manages all payroll activities and ensures timely and accurate payment of employee wages for clients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Enters maintains and processes information in the payroll system, including employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and additional information.
• Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, wage garnishments, and other deductions.
• Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
• Issues, reissues, physical or replacement checks, or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
• Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits as needed.
• Assist with quarterly payroll tax filings.
• File worker's compensation and general liability audit on behalf of the clients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to quickly learn payroll software.

Education and Experience:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• This position requires prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
