JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
WPI is searching for a dynamic individual for our full-time position of Head Field Hockey Coach. The successful candidate will be committed to recruiting and leading student-athletes in a high academic setting while fostering competitive success in a positive and supportive environment. This past year the highly competitive WPI Field Hockey program finished second in the NEWMAC and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the 2025 NCAA D3 championship while maintaining a 3.59 GPA.

The Head Field Hockey Coach is responsible for providing leadership and direction for all aspects of the Field Hockey program as they compete competitively in NCAA Division III athletics while providing an educational environment which enhances the development of the whole student-athlete. Additional responsibilities include teaching courses in physical education as well as departmental administrative responsibilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Field Hockey program; create a culture of compliance with NCAA rules and regulations as well as New England Women and Men Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and WPI university policies and procedures.
  • Develop team and individual strategies to create an environment of success through effective teaching of technical and fundamental field hockey skills.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of assistant coach(s), and any other personnel management duties as required to maintain a successful staff.
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes committed to academic and athletic excellence; establish ways to ensure success for all team members academically, athletically, and socially.
  • Maintain a strong connection with the WPI field hockey alumni group through communication and relationship development.
  • Responsible for successfully managing the program's operating and fundraising budgets.
  • Teach physical education courses
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor


Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Collegiate coaching experience


Compensation:

$60,000 - $68,000 per year. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity. Compensation at WPI
