Quality Operations Manager
The Operations Quality Manager is responsible for leading quality assurance activities within manufacturing operations at Amphenol PCD, ensuring all products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role supports aerospace and industrial interconnect product lines, driving operational excellence, compliance to AS9100, and continuous improvement across production processes.
The position plays a critical role in reducing defects, improving process capability, and ensuring customer satisfaction in a high-reliability environment.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure effective deployment and maintenance of Control Plans, PFMEA, and inspection strategies
- Develop, coach, and lead a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians
- Lead all shop floor quality activities across machining, assembly, and inspection operations for connector, cable, and interconnect products
- Drive zero-defect initiatives aligned with aerospace customer expectations
- Manage nonconformances including containment, disposition, and corrective actions
- Lead structured root cause analysis for internal and customer issues
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve process capability and reduce variation
- Oversee First Article Inspection activities in compliance with AS9102 requirements
- Monitor and improve key metrics: scrap, rework, FPY, COPQ, and customer returns
- Support and lead customer audits, source inspections, and quality escapes investigations
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality to address incoming material issues and drive supplier performance
- Drive Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Ensure alignment with the QMS team for compliance to AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements
- Additional duties as assigned
Required skills:
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 QMS requirements and aerospace quality expectations
- Hands-on experience with FAI, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and CAPA
- Experience managing MRB and dispositioning nonconforming material
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong data analysis skills with ability to drive decisions using quality metrics
- Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with customers and internal leadership
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field
The base salary range for this role is $120,000 USD - $140,000 USD, plus bonus. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. PCD considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
