Family Liaison (SY26-27)
Family Liaison (SY26-27) Dudley Street Neighborhood Charter School is looking for a Family Liaison to join our school community.This role helps build strong relationships between families, students, teachers, and the school community. The Family Liaison helps families feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the school. About Dudley Street Dudley Street Neighborhood Charter School is a Boston Public Schools (BPS) in-district charter school serving students in PreK5.Our school was founded by the Boston Plan for Excellence (BPE) and the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI). We believe strong partnerships with families and the community are essential for student success.At Dudley Street, we believe all students can succeed when they are challenged academically, supported by strong relationships, and excited about learning. Families are important partners in this work. Position Overview The Family Liaison works with the principal, teachers, and staff to support families and students.The Family Liaison helps:
- Families understand school programs and expectations
- Teachers and families communicate with each other
- Families access school and community resources
- Students receive the support they need to succeed
- This role helps make sure families feel welcomed, respected, and included in the school community.
- Families feel comfortable coming to the school
- Families understand how to support their childs learning
- Families know how to find help or resources
- Families and teachers have strong partnerships
- The school has strong connections to the Dudley neighborhood community
- Build relationships with families
- Welcome families and caregivers into the school community
- Build trusting relationships with families
- Help families share questions or concerns with the school
- Support communication
- Help families and teachers communicate clearly
- Share school information with families in accessible ways
- Help ensure communication reaches families in their home languages when possible
- Connect families to resources
- Help families find school supports or community services
- Work with community organizations that support families
- Support family leadership
- Help organize family meetings and events
- Support the School Parent Council and School Site Council
- Support students
- Reach out to families when students are missing school often
- Work with school staff to support students and families
- Organization and planning
- Keep records of family engagement activities
- Help the school improve family engagement efforts
- High School Diploma or GED
- 48 college credits, an Associates Degree, or passing the ParaPro or WorkKeys test
- At least 3 years of experience working with families in diverse or urban communities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to organize work and collaborate with school staff
