Job Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Biller/Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing insurance claims, ensuring proper coding for services rendered, managing accounts receivable, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payer requirements and coding guidelines. This role requires at least 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably with CPT Pediatric coding and ICD-10 diagnostic coding. Familiarity with Epic systems and Microsoft Excel is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Submit claims through Epic within one business day of receipt
• Review and reprocess denied or partially paid claims
• Prevent claims from aging over 90 days
• Assist with accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Answer coding-related provider inquiries
• Monitor and work outstanding claim reports
• Manage over/underpayment reports
• Proactively work claims in the billing work queue multiple times daily
• Communicate with insurance providers to resolve issues
• Maintain accurate insurance login credentials and stay informed on accepted insurances
• Manage private pay accounts to keep balances under 120 days
• Ensure compliance with all patient confidentiality policies and government regulations
• Patient registration, insurance eligibility verification, and charge entry
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately
• Perform A/R follow-up and manage unpaid crossover balances
• Process takeback requests and refunds as needed
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Some front desk responsibilities

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing or coding
• Knowledge of CPT (Pediatric preferred) and ICD-10 coding
• Experience with Epic (preferred)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret complex instructions and insurance policies
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office setting. It requires the use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and fax machines. The role may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
