**PRIMARY PURPOSE** **:** To be responsible for the inspection of cargo damaged in transit; to investigate and review damage surveys of $1,000,000 or more; and to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages.
+ Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
+ Provides written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.
+ Receives and reviews new claims and maintains data integrity in the claims system.
**ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Supports the organization's quality program(s).
+ Travels as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education & Licensing**
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
**Experience**
Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
**Skills & Knowledge**
+ Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
+ PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
+ Good customer service skills
+ Good organizational skills
+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment
+ Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
