Simulation Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE:
The Simulation Coordinator is a non-tenured faculty member on a 9-month contract with primary responsibility for organizing and supporting simulation learning experiences in Nursing skills. This involves collaboration with faculty teaching courses that require practice and clinical simulation experiences across one or more laboratories. The preferred candidate will have experience in simulation and clinical instruction and will be responsible for equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, and establishing and maintaining clinical contracts. It may also be within this role to teach no more than four courses per academic year.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. With the Dean and Assistant/or Associate Dean, develop a simulation center that meets accreditation requirements
2. Create a learning environment that will enhance students’ ability to use conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills
3. Oversee care and work closely with departmental faculty to plan simulation strategies that will increase students' ability to meet clinical skill requirements
4. Maintain records of simulation equipment use, student performance, and data points necessary for accreditation
5. Developing and implementing high-quality learning and assessment simulations
6. Evaluating the effectiveness of simulations as educational and assessment tools
7. Facilitating simulation scenarios and student participation with debriefing sessions
8. Training simulation users in simulation activities, operation of patient simulators, audio-visual equipment, and their maintenance
9. Coordinating maintenance of patient simulators, part-task trainers, and virtual equipment
10. Teach no more than four courses/year
QUALIFICATIONS:
● MSN degree (from a regionally accredited program) preferred
● Registered nurse licensure in the state of Massachusetts is required
● Computer proficiency and experience working in clinical simulation labs and nursing clinical skills labs preferred
● CPR Instructor certification, preferred
● Demonstrated clinical competence as evidenced by at least 2 years’ experience working in a critical care or emergency setting within the past 5 years required
● Must be self-directed, innovative, and able to assess current operations in an effort to develop practical action programs to improve the functioning of a simulation program
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, with the ability to interact effectively with students
● Excellent communication skills along with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment
● Must be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy

● Use of general office equipment in an office setting. Requires an equal amount of standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing multiple levels of stairs, light lifting, near vision, and manual dexterity to perform essential job functions. Requires the ability to travel between buildings on campus with exposure to inclement weather conditions.
● May require driving or traveling to locations in the local and outside the local area on official college business.
● Background check will be conducted upon hire and on a routine basis thereafter. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
