Job Description : Quality Assurance (QA) Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced QA Lead to oversee and drive the quality assurance strategy for our software products.

The QA Lead will be responsible for leading a team of QA engineers, designing and implementing test processes, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

This role requires a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop a team of QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor the team’s performance to ensure high productivity. Provide coaching, training, and performance reviews for QA team members.
  2. Quality Assurance Strategy & Planning Define, implement, and maintain the QA strategy, ensuring alignment with project and organizational goals. Design and develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for manual and automated testing. Establish quality assurance processes, standards, and best practices across all projects.
  3. Test Management & Execution Oversee the execution of functional, regression, integration, performance, and security tests. Manage automated and manual testing efforts, ensuring thorough coverage of all software requirements. Track, analyze, and report on testing progress, results, and key quality metrics.
  4. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with product managers, developers, DevOps, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality standards are met. Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) to contribute to the continuous delivery pipeline. Provide clear and concise QA reports to management, highlighting risks, issues, and improvement areas.
  5. Defect Management & Risk Mitigation Identify, document, and track software defects using issue-tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla). Collaborate with development teams to diagnose root causes and ensure timely resolution of issues. Conduct risk assessments to identify critical areas of focus in the testing lifecycle.
  6. Process Improvement & Automation Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks to support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD). Stay up-to-date with the latest QA trends, tools, and technologies to recommend innovations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a QA leadership or team management role.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency in test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Cypress, Appium).
  • Experience with API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI). Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid SQL knowledge for database testing.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.

Certifications: ISTQB, CSTE, or other relevant QA certifications are preferred.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous in identifying issues that may impact the user experience.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate QA findings clearly.

Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle shifting priorities.

Time Management: Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
