RN Director – Surgical Services
Full-Time | Hospital-Based Leadership Role
Location: Greater Boston Region, Massachusetts (On-Site)
We are seeking an experienced RN Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for perioperative and surgical services within an acute care hospital environment. This role partners closely with senior nursing leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care across assigned surgical and perioperative units.
The Director assumes 24/7 accountability for designated areas and plays a key role in nursing practice oversight, staff competency, and resource management within the surgical services division.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and operational oversight for surgical and perioperative services, including the operating room environment
Support senior nursing leadership in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units
Ensure high standards of patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance
Promote professional nursing practice, staff engagement, and clinical competency development
Serve as a visible leader and role model for nursing professionalism and interdisciplinary collaboration
Oversee staffing models, resource utilization, and workflow optimization within surgical services
Participate in performance improvement initiatives, quality metrics, and operational planning
Perform additional leadership responsibilities as needed to support organizational goals
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field with an associate degree in nursing
Minimum 2 years of progressive hospital leadership experience at the manager or director level
Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a hospital operating room setting
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and operational management skills
Current CPR certification
Master’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field (MSN or equivalent)
Prior experience leading multi-unit perioperative or surgical services operations
Base salary is highly competitive and dependent on experience
