VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) is a three-campus tertiary care medical center affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School and provides a full range of patient-care services with nationally recognized education and research activities. VABHS features one of the largest research programs in VA, with major resources in epidemiology, clinical trials, and health services research. The General Internal Medicine section has a close relationship with the Center for Healthcare Organization and Implementation Research, a VA Health Services Research & Development Center of Innovation. VABHS is also home to the Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center, a research center providing national leadership for the Million Veteran Program, VA's signature genomic medicine initiative. VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) seeks a dynamic Heart Failure (HF) Cardiologist to join the Cardiology Section. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to patient care, trainee education, and faculty development. This position oversees all HF Program clinical activities, reports to the Cardiology Section Chief, and is primarily located at the West Roxbury campus. The work schedule for this position is 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
The successful candidate will participate in heart failure care at VABHS, focusing on advanced heart failure and the new Mechanical Support and Heart Transplant Program in close collaboration with the Cardiovascular Division at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). This position includes clinical activities in cardiology and heart failure at VABHS and heart failure and transplant services at BWH. These activities include inpatient cardiology, advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplant services, outpatient ambulatory continuity care clinics, and some on-call responsibilities. The position involves teaching and mentoring internal medicine residents, Cardiovascular Disease Fellows, and subspecialty Fellows in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
Academic appointment at Harvard Medical School as Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor will be provided commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
Position requirements include:
* U.S. citizenship, an active and unrestricted medical license in any state
* Board certification or eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
* Training and experience in a high-volume mechanical circulatory support and heart transplant center
