Part Time Custodians - (Anticipated Openings 2026-2027)
Standard Hours: 18
Duties- Work under the direction of the Senior Custodian performing regular duties of a Junior Building Custodian as it pertains to the cleaning and up-keep of the school building and surrounding grounds.
- Performs work such as daily cleaning of floors, walls, windows, toilets, furniture, cleaning and shampooing of carpets; stripping, waxing, and buffing of tile floors and other associated work.
- Performs work that requires the ability to climb ladders perform heavy manual labor including emptying trash, shoveling snow, sanding, up-keep of outside grounds, lifting and moving furniture, moving supplies and equipment and performs other related duties as requested.
- Delivers supplies.
- Prepares building for authorized events and approved permits.
- Limits access to building to authorized personnel or those attending an authorized event and approved permits.
- Provides quality customer service for building users.
- Locks doors, windows and sections of building; activates security alarms.
- Ensures nothing is removed from the building without permission from a supervisor, the School Principal, or a designated PBRM official.
- Reports vandalism, mechanical malfunctions, broken windows, doors, and other building damage to a supervisor and/or the School Principal.
- Provides assistance to maintain safe and effective building operations.
- Performs upkeep such as changing light bulbs and replacing ceiling tiles.
- Keeps grounds and entranceways free from litter and debris.
- Provides assistance needed to maintain security in and around the building.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Dependable with the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the Principal, school staff, City departments, public, contractors, and other building users.
- Strong organizational skills and interpersonal relations skills.
- Demonstrates effective and reliable work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, and shows a willingness to learn new work skills.
- Possession of a Driver's License preferred.
- Must be City of Springfield resident.
