The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Professional Legal Administrator (PLA) to work directly with the Owner and lead the administrative, operational, and business functions of the firm. This is a senior executive role responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the day-to-day operations of the firm while driving execution of the firm’s strategic and quarterly business plans.
The PLA oversees all non-legal operations, including administration, people operations, finances, facilities, systems, and risk management. This role requires the maturity, confidence, and judgment to operate as a true thought partner to the Owner and leadership team—bringing structure, clarity, and forward momentum to a fast-growing firm.
The ideal candidate has experience managing an annual budget of $6M+, directly leading 35–40+ team members, and exercising full autonomy to hire, develop, and exit team members as needed. This is a hands-on, highly accountable role for a leader who “runs everything” operationally and ensures the firm operates with excellence, consistency, and purpose.

Essential Responsibilities- Execute the firm’s business plan and achieve quarterly revenue and profitability targets.
- Lead and develop the six key parts of the business through strong systems and accountability.
- Hire, onboard, develop, and retain the right people in the right seats.
- Lead performance management, feedback, and ongoing team development.
- Partner with the Owner to design and implement firm strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Analyze operational and financial data to inform decisions and drive performance.
- Oversee all non-lawyer staff, vendors, and outsourced partners.
- Ensure firm systems, policies, and procedures are fully documented, implemented, and audited.
- Oversee financial operations with a strong understanding of reporting and accounting principles.
- Ensure technology, digital infrastructure, and cybersecurity are functional and secure.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and proactively mitigate exposure.
- Lead and manage firm-wide projects with clear ownership, timelines, and outcomes.
- Model healthy, effective leadership that builds culture, accountability, and retention.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in management, business, human resources, or a related field.
- Proven success leading operations for a professional services firm or comparable organization.
- Demonstrated experience managing $6M+ annual budgets.
- Experience directly leading 30–45+ employees, with authority to hire and fire.
- Law firm experience is a plus, but not required.
- SHRM, HRCI, or project management certifications are a plus, but not required.
Compensation:
Base salary range of $120,000 to $160,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This role also includes a performance-based bonus structure tied to the achievement of defined key performance indicators (KPIs).
