Purpose

Responsible for providing direction, oversight and performing mark outs as requested through the dig safe call system. Engaged in the full range of general construction and maintenance activities on transmission and distribution systems and facilities as applicable ensuring compliance and public safety, including pre-mark work done in advance of Dig Safe review. Perform Leak Survey duties as needed. Performs all related work in accordance with Company, regulatory and safety procedures.

Accountabilities

Operations:

  • Performs and ensures all mark out distribution system facilities as requested to ensure compliance through Dig Safe call system and other leakage survey programs. Classify detected leaks according to industry standards. Investigate, assess and classify in preparation of repair.
  • Support and assist service technicians as it relates to gas odor complaints. Respond to construction sites to verify facilities and infrastructure and to pinpoint leak resources. Respond to construction sites to verify company facilities.
  • Operate pipe locating and gas leak detection equipment. Conduct SILS orders for public building survey to ensure the integrity of existing infrastructure utilizing CGI/FI equipment within areas of public business districts. Conduct Leak survey utilizing walking and mobile patrol.
  • Monitors and provides feedback to the team and to supervisors on job performance, compliance issues with operations and team objectives.

Compliance:

  • Conduct rechecks of existing leaks. Determine migration and verifying the classification of the leak has not changed. Meet damage prevention requirements including support of M.U.S.T. program. Read and interpret GIS System records that leads to the identification of existing infrastructure. Ensure adherence to Company O&M standards. Respond to internal and other external dig safe tickets. Performs activities to ensure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies, including 24/7 on call duties.

Customer Centric:

  • Provides customer service regarding complaints and/or questions during new installations and repairs. Advises customers of work to be performed on customers' property. Escalates customer concerns to appropriate channels. Coordinate with homeowner/business owner ability to gain access to facility.

Other:

  • May be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours. Is subject to reporting outside regular work area.
  • Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues. Monitors encroachment thru leak survey. Ensuring that existing infrastructure is not compromised. Escalating to appropriate channel situations that may require replacement. Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
  • Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company’s values, strategies, policies and procedures and exhibits the core values of Liberty’s Mission Statement, Customer Service, Safety and the Company’s Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others, including Operational Qualification, DOT and Federal regulated standards and certifications.
  • Must be familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live by the spirit of its intent and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment. Must complete all required safety training.

Education and Experience

  • High school or GED equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience
