Clinical Nurse Educator
Act as an expert consultant to clinical nurses, optimizing care practices to ensure positive patient outcomes.
Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to trauma care.
Identify ethical issues and support staff in addressing them, ensuring compassionate and ethical care.
Facilitate the integration of knowledge about disease processes into clinical practice to meet the care needs of patients and families.
Organize meetings to review orientation progress, providing feedback to new staff and identifying areas for improvement.
Assist nursing leadership in developing personalized learning plans for staff members. 2. Education Conduct an annual needs assessment to determine educational priorities for the department.
Design and implement unit-based educational programs based on the needs assessment.
Coordinate in-service sessions for new products, policies, and procedures, ensuring accessibility across all shifts.
Oversee the presentation of mandatory education and monitor staff completion rates.
Stay flexible to meet newly identified educational needs and provide ongoing educational programming. 3. Trauma Program Responsibility Collaborate with physicians, department managers, and administrators to meet trauma care goals.
Stay up-to-date with ACS Trauma Center Criteria and contribute to achieving clinical and administrative milestones for Level II Trauma Center Verification.
Participate in the preparation and execution of site visits by the American College of Surgeons.
Assist in the operational processes of the trauma program, including meeting preparation, reporting, and follow-up actions.
Support the ongoing development and advancement of the trauma program.
Contribute to the creation and revision of policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to trauma care. 4. Technology Demonstrate proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other clinical software.
Utilize web-based incident reporting systems as needed.
Confidently use payroll and biomedical equipment applications. 5. Professional Development Attend at least one professional development program annually to support individual career goals.
Mentor staff members in their career advancement, including specialty certifications and educational opportunities.
Maintain clinical competence in your specialty area.
Ensure up-to-date certification/licensure as required by the position.
Take on a leadership role within nursing by engaging with professional organizations. 6. Collaboration Partner with service area representatives to plan educational opportunities for staff.
Actively participate in committees and maintain positive working relationships across all disciplines.
Ensure effective communication with the clinical team, particularly regarding changes to patient care plans.
Maintain visibility by regularly rounding on units and staying accessible to staff across all shifts.
Collaborate with leadership to develop both team and individual goals for staff members. 7. Performance Improvement Participate in performance improvement programs within the department.
Develop and implement a performance improvement initiative focused on enhancing nursing practice.
Collaborate with leadership and staff to improve patient satisfaction scores in your area of responsibility. Minimum Qualifications: MSN preferred or enrollment in an accredited graduate nursing program.
3-5 years of clinical experience in trauma nursing, critical care, or emergency care.
TNCC certification required (Instructor/Director certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire).
Familiarity with course.
Experience working with databases and proficiency in Excel.
Experience in designing and evaluating educational programs is a plus.
Previous teaching or instructor experience is preferred.
